Michaela has joined our class from Moruya. She has made friends really quickly and become a valuable member of the 1J team.
We have been looking at shape and number patterns in 1J this week. Practise counting with your child by 2's, 5's and 10's, forwards and backwards. You can do this while clapping, stepping, jumping, skipping or throwing and catching. Have fun! 1J have a new pet in the classroom, a large stick insect found at Mrs Jones' house. Some students are calling him Nick and others Sticky. They are enjoying holding it, giving it fresh gum leaves to eat and spraying water in it's enclosure.
We have had some interesting news items this week, including a puppy, some cool toys and a Kahlei's beautiful puppet. We all enjoy hearing about everyone's news.
We have had a very busy and enjoyable second week of school, completing lots of work and having lots of fun. Here is some of what we have been up to:
1J had a successful start to the year, enjoying the first two days together very much. We had a tour of the school to discuss the school rules, played some maths games, tried out the ipads, did some writing and a painting about our holidays, made two fish in art, did some running and dancing for fitness and shared all about our favourite things. Check out the photos below to see what we have been doing. Mrs Jones was very impressed with the way the students have settled into Year One, showing good listening skills and enthusiasm towards class activities. We are looking forward to Week 2 now.
